IT hate list

My boys are like small kids. Knowing that I am a sort of criticising them for their careless way of dressing up they started teasing me. After playing the socks they come to me to give a hug in their wet from sweat T-shirts. Now they skype me when they are wearing the same clothing for the second/third/fourth day (which is quite often) or show holes in the socks they wear under the slippers in the office. But this is a small part of  a big teasing thing. They adore criticising back. Our office is in the city center, so lots of stylish people can be seen in the streets. IT guys love discussing the men's looks they see in the streets. They have even created their IT hate list :)Here is what they dislike most of all:
  • skinny jeans

This garment calls out the wave of uncontrolled negative emotions from IT crowd =) They say that the Real Man will never-ever put that model on. It's designed for girls only=)
  • oversized patent-leather bag

The same story as with the skinny jeans. This is particulary annoying for them as in most cases the bags are colorful and sparkling :)
  • men wearing UGG boots

This is the last straw for them. Whenever they see a guy wearing all those three things at the same time they get really aggressive. However, my boys are very timid and will never hurt anyone in the street for their choice of clothes. But they will come to the office and start teasing me and complaining of that strange world of fashion, where the clear and so important, from their point of view, line between men and women is starting to disappeare.
And what can I say? Fortunately for me, they are completely anaware of Andrej Pejic and his career in fashion. :)

Stay and Fight

Most of my coleagues are very humble and shy at work. They prefer to stay quiet and unnoticed, spending all day long staring at their screens or playing wii to relax. But you know what they say, dumb dogs are dangerous. Their inner aggressive beast comes out while they are playing on-line or real-time strategy games. =)This is where they are about to show their dark side. What! They do have it =) everyone does =) So they spend their evenings and nights fighting for some belt or coat or other garments ( real fashionistas, aren't they? =) So they come to work the next day sleepy, tired and indifferent, wearing the same stuff they put on now at least 2 days ago. One of the IT'guys told me, full of pride, that he dresses his on-line WOW hero a hundred times better than himself in real life. My question why it all happens like that, he answered wihout a shadow of doubt, that it is IMPORTANT for the hero. Imagine, what would have happened if they followed the rule on this picture: =)

To tell you the truth, sometimes I feel like those walking around real-time game characters, having a mission but performing the learnt actions from time to time. Still, I do not give up. From my point of view, it could be a nice idea for fashion designers, to create sketches for on-line games heros. This hidden PR would definitely work, and more programmers would follow the style tips subconsciously.

The IT style tips

I am a working girl. Still, I love hanging out. A lot. I prefer my new IT-friends to accompany me in long walks, different activities and parties. They are harmless, nice, predictable and shy. A perfect combination of traits of character. Most of the time they talk about movies or series they've watched. Usually these are "The Misfits", "Big bang theory" and " One and a half men". I got used to it and can easily think over my next three days outfit while pretending to listen to their stories. This approach works without bugs, if to talk in IT slang.=) And everyone is happy.
Yesterday we attended the fireshow that was the closing evening of the French Spring festival in Kiev. A nice festival with fire, drums, light and gorgeous fireworks. The scene was breathtaking. I haven't seen such beauty for a long time. Some of the developers came with me. On our way to the show spot we were discussing fashion. Believe me, all the conversations end up with the style topic when I'm involved=).
So here we were, walking down the crowded streets of late Thursday, arguing about clothes. I was the one who supported the idea of forming new looks every day. Guys were opposing me. Frankly speaking, they were defending their right to wear one and the same outfit for at least 3 days. can you belive it? All my attemps to make them see the benefits of being stylish every new day failed when one of the programmers said that wearing dirty clothes can be treated as style tip. Gosh! I have a lot of things to work on to teach them think as fashionistas. That's quite a challenge. And I accept it=)

Fashionista's vow

What is the most important thing in the up- bringing? No. It’s not about avoiding doing harm or hurting someone’s feelings. The correct answer is : not to catch the inconsistency you are helping another person to get rid off.
You might be interested why I even bother to ask such strange questions. So let me explain.
I kind of sorted out that my so-called little mission is to make IT workers more fashion-educated, give them some glimpse of taste and understanding that wearing smart clothes does not necessarily mean that you are homosexual.
I was so captivated by my strategy that I almost completely forgot that I am actually in danger. When everyone around you pays little attention to their outfit and make up, it becomes harder not to follow their example.
But thanks God I have caring friends. When I told a friend of mine about the sort of company I was working for she made me swear that whenever I get in the mood of pulling on my old colorless shirt, jeans and leaving my make-up at home,  I should remember her and other friends who love my style and the way I’m dressing up and never ever want to see me that way.
So here I am, ready to stand up for my right to be stylish and eager to bring the light of fashionable education into the intricate minds of IT people.=)

It's been a while

Yes, I know, I promised to myself that I should write here more. But it takes so much effort to choose the most important. The essence of the ideas that roll inside my blond-haired head.
In my previous post I told you about the kind of company I work for. The guys are really nice to me these days. We had a celebration of women's day and I was delievered two perfect enormously huge bunches of flowers. Yellow tulips and purple with pink ones. So lovely, tender and touching. I was so happy!

But as long as I'm writing about my life in connection to fashion I guess I should tell the trick I made that day.

I put on the very unusual as for the IT  people skirt by Mango. It's a feather skirt. A zefir pink one with the black satin belt. I'm absolutely in love with it.<3

I was wearing it with the black blazer and black tights and high heels. No accessories just small diamond stud earrings. And that was something=)) Everyone was impressed. =) Most of the programmers were making laugh of it and comparing it to some chicken halloween costume. But there turned out to be people who really liked it and draw paralles with ballet. The art I was actually inspired by while creating this look. Ballet and the "Run away" full version video by Kanye West.
So there are unexpected fashionistas even among IT crowd=)))
We'll see what's going to be revealed next =)

What I'm involved in

I probably should let you know, how my story began and what I'm involved in now. So here is the short overview of what happened to me before I started this blog :)
It's not that I'm a little girl all by myself in a big alien city. At least I hope so. I can't say that on the day I moved to the capital my whole world turned upside down. It wasn't a rebirth. Just a new episode of my life. A rather strange one, I must confess. Leaving aside all the troubles I faced here, I managed to find a job. And a good one actually. I am working in the IT company. We have a noble mission. We help people with health problems. Even though we make money of it, it's still the work one can be proud of.
The funny thing is that I'm the sixth girl in the office. There are 38 guys and only six girls. And I'm the only faire-haired maid out there. Now you can imagine how it feels in my shoes. No. I bet you can't.
IT-workers are the separate nation. They have their own way of behaving, having fun, dressing.....yes, dressing was the first thing that impressed me the most. But there were a few more 'surprises' yet to come. And I was not ready. No one warned me. I knew that it was a different world, but I never thought it was so another-universe for me.
Shocking? No, rather embarrasing and funny :)
As a fashion magazine journalist (that's a long story and I'll dedicate a separate post to it), the look of sandals on socks and too short sweaters and T-shirts stroke my fashionista's eye. And my ensembles were always carefully prepaired and thought-over. And no one really cared. No one even noticed. All they cared about were their screens and levels they gained in stupid on-line games. And that was the beginning of my IT career. :)
